I Need Thee…National Day Prayer

“I Need Thee Every Hour” for National Day of Prayer. We all want control as individuals and as a nation. Sometimes we feel as though we are self sufficient and we don’t need the Lord. Whether we realize it or not, we not only need the Lord every hour, we can’t even walk without Him.

I know many who are reading this are tired and hurting. I just want you to know I’m thinking of you right now and more importantly, I’m praying for you. God is faithful and He is able. Let’s all pray for each other and our nation that we each would realize our need to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

God’s Church

I want to begin by sharing how thankful I am for the Memorial Fellowship that we had here at First Baptist last week!  I was so delighted that everyone was flexible when we moved everything to the FLC due to the weather.  Also I was pleased that everyone seemed to enjoy the activities, the devotion and prayer time for our nation, and of course the hot dogs and incredible homemade ice cream!  When the weather moved out it was nice to close out a great evening by playing “wiffle” ball and volleyball as kids, students, and adults enjoyed being together.

There is no doubt that God has blessed us here at First Baptist with great facilities and loving people who love the Lord!  Love and fellowship are natural characteristics of believers in Christ and good indicators of God’s hand and power at work.  May we always be a church filled with love for each other as we love the Lord more and more in our daily walk with Jesus!  The early church also loved the Lord and loved each other:

And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved” (Acts 2:32).

As we move into the summer months may we see the same characteristics here at First Baptist that we find in the Scriptures about the early church.  Will you join me in committing to this kind of church?  Please realize that I’m not asking you to commit to some model by a Christian author, I’m asking you to commit to God’s model by the Author of all Authors.  When we commit to God’s Word we’ll see more of God’s hand and power at work here at First Baptist.

Love in Christ,

Pastor Mark
