I Need Thee…National Day Prayer

“I Need Thee Every Hour” for National Day of Prayer. We all want control as individuals and as a nation. Sometimes we feel as though we are self sufficient and we don’t need the Lord. Whether we realize it or not, we not only need the Lord every hour, we can’t even walk without Him.

I know many who are reading this are tired and hurting. I just want you to know I’m thinking of you right now and more importantly, I’m praying for you. God is faithful and He is able. Let’s all pray for each other and our nation that we each would realize our need to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Love in Christ,
Pastor Mark

Thanksgiving Before Halloween!

Imagine this:  Thanksgiving before Halloween!  Well why not?  We have Christmas decorations up before Halloween!  Is Thanksgiving not important?  I’m always amazed at how quickly retail stores put up Christmas decorations.  It seems every year the date of seeing Christmas displays come earlier and earlier.  There must be good reason behind the management decision of when Christmas items are made available, but the sad thing is Thanksgiving is easily overlooked or completely missed.  When you add “Black Friday” beginning on Thanksgiving evening then Thanksgiving becomes just a day of planning of where to shop and what to get instead of slowing down and being grateful to the Lord for the blessings from His hand.

God has been so good to us and is worthy of every single “thanks” that comes from His children; in fact we could never thank Him enough for Who He is and for what He’s done.  Let’s not be guilty this Thanksgiving season of rushing through Thanksgiving without focusing on God’s bountiful blessings to us.  Let me encourage you to begin this Thanksgiving season by reading and meditating on Ephesians 1:3-14 about the awesome spiritual blessings that we enjoy as believers through Christ.  I assure you that if you’ve experienced the grace of God then meditating on God’s spiritual blessings will lead you to overflow with gratitude!  As Johnson Oatman, Jr wrote, “Count your blessings, name them one by one, Count your blessings, see what God hath done!”
